Carl Davis, age 75, of Douglas, passed away on Wednesday April 17, 2019 at Carl Vinson Medical Center in Dublin. Mr. Davis was born on January 11, 1943 in Coffee County, the son of the late Alfred and Lura B. Darley Davis. He was a farmer, attended Tanner Baptist Church and was a veteran of the United States Army serving during the Vietnam War.

 

Mr. Davis was preceded in death by five brothers, Hiram Davis, Solomon Davis, Owen Davis, Daniel Davis and Omas Davis; three sisters, Lila Carver, Florence Hughs and Sadie Cady; and several nieces and nephews.

 

Survivors include his wife, Edna Davis of Douglas; daughter, Ravata Davis of Kernersville, N.C.; son Carl Roan “Bo” Davis of Douglas; four grandchildren, Cody Bounds of Douglas, Erin Davis of Brooksville, Lila Davis of Douglas, and Austin Davis of Douglas; one great grandchild on the way; several nieces and nephews.

 

Funeral services were held at 11 am on Saturday, April 20, 2019 at Tanner Baptist Church with Rev. Buddy Jordan and Rev. Freddie Stone officiating. Interment followed at Jowers Chapel Cemetery. Military honors were given by the United States Army Honor Guard from Ft. Stewart.

 

Sims Funeral Home in Douglas was in charge of arrangements.
