Mr. Fred Leamon Smith, age 60, of Wray, passed away on Wednesday, May 15 2019 at Memorial Health in Savannah. Mr. Smith was born on May 26, 1958 in Broxton, the son of W.L. Smith and Frankie Gunn Smith.

 

His church membership was at New Corinth Calvary Holiness Church, where he served as a deacon for 18 years. Mr. Smith also served on the Calvary Holiness Campground Committee for 14 years and served as a board member at Citizens Christian Academy for 14 years. Fred was a lifelong prominent farmer in this area.

 

Mr. Smith was a loving husband, a devoted father, and a beloved grandfather. He enjoyed hunting and fishing but his greatest love was for church and family.

 

Mr. Smith is preceded in death by a daughter, Laci Suzanna Smith.

 

Mr. Smith is survived by his wife of 42 years, Janice Deen Smith of Wray; two sons, Trevor B. Smith and wife Christy Smith of Wray and Jonathan G. Smith and wife Jennifer Smith of Wray; four grandchildren, Logan Smith, Alyssa Smith, Colton Smith and Brodie Smith; parents, W.L. and Frankie Smith of Wray; brother, Steve Smith and wife Terri of Fitzgerald; sister, Sandra Sellers and husband Newton of Wray; several nieces and nephews.

 

Funeral services will be held on Sunday May 19, 2019 at 2:00 PM at the Calvary Holiness Campground with Rev. Jody Silvers, Rev. Joey Dean and Rev. Andrew Bellah officiating. Interment will follow at New Corinth Calvary Holiness Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends at Sims Funeral Home, Saturday May 18, 2019, from 6:00PM until 9:00PM.

 

Sims Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
