Elixir opens South Georgia Anodizing

Business continues to brew strong in Coffee County!  For over 40 years, Elixir has been a well-known industry in Douglas that has made a significant impact on Coffee County’s workforce and continued economic development and growth.

Elixir’s first division, Elixir Door & Metal, opened its doors in Douglas in 1979 with the production of high-quality door solutions for the factory-built home industry.  In 1986, the company expanded with the launch of Elixir Extrusions, supplying linear and fabricated aluminum components to a variety of markets including construction, transportation, machinery and equipment, electrical, consumer durables and recreational vehicles.

Most recently, the company evolved into the anodizing industry with the opening of another new facility, South Georgia Anodizing (SGA).  The plant is a state of the art 110,000 square foot facility located on Roland Sahm Way, which was recently named for the founding father of Elixir Industries. South Georgia Anodizing provides custom anodization, a process of electromagnetically controlling, accelerating and, enhancing oxidation of an aluminum substrate.   The tanks are some of the largest available in the country by a job shop at 36 feet in length. The company uses a caustic etch process and can anodize Type 1 and Type 2 clear, black dye and two step electrolytic color.

A grand opening celebration and ribbon cutting was held at South Georgia Anodizing on Wednesday, May 1.  Several Sahm family members, along with local business leaders, community members, state, regional and local representatives, attended the momentous occasion and enjoyed a tour of the facility and catered luncheon by Simply Southern.  Donny Bradshaw, Elixir CFO and Chairman of Douglas-Coffee County Chamber of Commerce, provided an informative presentation regarding the new expansion and thanked all who contributed to the construction and opening of the facility.  South Georgia Anodizing’s managing board includes SGA General Manager Tim Davis, CFO Donny Bradshaw, Roland Sahm, Jr. and Douglas Sahm, Sr.
