DOT board member Don Grantham visits Douglas

On Thursday, June 27, 2019, Douglas and Coffee County welcomed Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) Board member for Congressional District 12 Don Grantham to Douglas and Coffee County.  After a breakfast meeting with city, county, and state officials, Grantham observed areas in Douglas and Coffee County that pose transportation issues in the community, which included transportation investments by GDOT.

“We were very fortunate to have Mr. Grantham touring our community,” says City Manager Charles Davis.  “We wanted to thank him for projects that GDOT has completed which are benefitting our community. Also, during his visit, we found time to make suggestions for several other needed projects to help aid transportation issues in Douglas and Coffee County.”

Mr. Grantham was the guest speaker for the Douglas Rotary Club luncheon.  Mr. Grantham spoke to the club about GDOT and the areas they cover which include Georgia roadways, airports, short line railways, and shipping ports.   Safety is one of the most important factors when looking at improvements in those areas. Before the year ends, Douglas and Coffee County should see 3 more widening projects for county roads in addition to funding for other needed areas.
