Mr. Wendell Purvis, age 59, of Axson, passed away, Wednesday, June 28, 2019 at Coffee Regional Medical Center in Douglas.

Born October 30, l959, in Coffee County, Mr. Purvis was the son of the late Jake and Bernise Lott Purvis. He lived in the Guthrie Heights community in Atkinson County and was a self-employed carpenter. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Jerry Purvis and Jimmy Lee Purvis; and a sister, Wannell Purvis Anderson. 

Survivors include: Daughter Julia Marie Tomberlin and husband, Andy of Baxley; six brothers Allie Purvis and wife, Roxanna, of Pearson, Clyde Purvis and wife, Janice, of Pearson, Tallie Purvis and wife, Mollie, of Douglas, Paul Purvis and wife, Carolyn, of Jesup, Micager Purvis of Douglas, Jack Purvis and wife, Mary, of Willacoochee; sisters Jacklyn Anderson of Pearson and Verdie Mae Griffin of Douglas; and grandchildren Kaitlyn Vaughn, Tyler Vaughn, and Anslee Tomberlin

Graveside funeral services for Mr. Purvis were held, Sunday, June 30, 2019 at 10 a.m. at Purvis Cemetery with Rev. Bobby Fussell officiating. Special music included “Cotton Fields” presented by CD. The internment followed in Purvis Cemetery. 

Pallbearers were Chris Meloy, Charlie Vining, Jr., Anthony Foskey, Lamar Purvis, James Robertson, and Shane Tucker.

Relihan Funeral Home in Pearson was in charge of all the arrangements.
