Claude Wayne Deas, age 76, of Douglas, passed away on Monday July 23, 2019 at his residence. Mr. Deas was born on November 1, 1942 in Hazlehurst, the son of the late Wesley Sikes Deas and Harriet Julia King Deas.

Mr. Deas was a retired general manager with Esco Industries and was a member of St. Andrews Anglican Church in Douglas.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Jo Kitchens Deas.

Survivors include two daughters, Deanna Davis Carmical of Douglas and Courtney Davis Ray (husband Charlie) of Atlanta; son, Andrew Deas (wife Stephanie) of Douglas; two brothers, Jimmy Deas (wife Dianne) of Alpharetta and Richard Deas (wife Joanne) of Hazlehurst; sister, Debbie Deas Owens (husband John) of Hazlehurst; eight grandchildren, Charlie Carmical, Hank Carmical, Avery Ray, Griffin Ray, Grayson Ray, Addison Ray, Lily Deas and Drew Deas; several nieces and nephews.

Memorial services will be held on Sunday July 28, 2019 at 2 pm at St. Andrews Anglican Church with Father John Commins officiating. Interment will follow at Douglas City Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday afternoon from 3pm until 5pm at his residence, 515 E. Jackson St., Douglas.

Sims Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
