Mary Elizabeth “Beth” Sumner, age 58, of Broxton, passed away on Tuesday August 6, 2019 at Piedmont Athens Regional Medical Center in Athens. Mrs. Sumner was born on March 24, 1961 in Douglas, the daughter of the late Thomas Daniel Peterson and Nadine Walker Peterson.

Beth was a retired RN, MSN, at Coffee Regional Medical Center after thirty-four years and was a member of Covenant Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an aunt, Anna Jane Walker Smith.

Survivors include her husband, Roy Daniel Sumner of Broxton; two daughters, Elizabeth Danielle Sumner of Broxton and AnnaMarie Nadine Sumner of Broxton; two brothers, Wayne Peterson of Broxton and Tommy Peterson of New York, N.Y.; mother and father-in-law, Walter and Janice Sumner of Fitzgerald; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 10, 2019 at 1:00 pm at Covenant Church with Rev. Gregory and Jackie Pope officiating. Beth will lay-in-state from 12 noon until 1 pm prior to the service. Interment will follow at Broxton City Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday evening from 6 pm until 9 pm at Covenant Church.  

Sims Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
