Alma E. Sweat, age 66, of Nicholls, passed away on August 14, 2019 at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Jacksonville, Florida after a short illness. The daughter of the late John Quiness Carver, she was preceded in death by a brother, Duley Carver. She was a member of Saginaw Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband of 44 years, Roy Sweat; her mother Mary Elizabeth Mercer Kirkland; children Justin Sweat (Aggie) and Tonya Anderson (Chris); brother John Carver (Dorothy); sister Quinette Lott (Ronnie); and grandchildren Jon Michael Sweat, Bailey and Chelsey Burnam and Ashton Anderson.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 17 at 11:00 AM at Saginaw Baptist Church with Rev. L.G. Aldridge, Rev. Pet Hayes and Rev. John Carver officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.  The family will be receiving friends at the funeral home Friday evening from 6 to 9 PM.

Active pallbearers will be: Jamie Carver, Quiness Carver, Toby Howell, Stacey Howell, Chris Anderson, Levy Jo Sweat, Grady Meeks and Dexter Kirkland. Honorary pallbearers will be the Nicholls Class of 1971.

Crosby Funeral Home in Alma is in charge of arrangements.
