Mr. James Preston Mills, age 67 of Douglas and formerly of Panama City, Fla., passed away late Thursday evening, August 15, 2019 at his residence following an extended illness. Mr. Mills was born June 5, 1952 to the late John Mills and the late Idell Pettis Mills. Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Sue Pitts.

Mr. Mills, a native of Panama City, had recently moved to Douglas. He was a retired construction/engineer with the Florida Department of Transportation. Mr. Mills was also an ordained minister in the Assemblies of God. He was a US Army veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Abbie Gail Blankenship Mills of Douglas; children April Haney of Ft. Walton, Fla., Jamie Mills of Douglas, Lucy Hartman of Tampa, Darian Cumbie of Panama City; brothers Danny Mills and Jerry Mills both of Panama City; sister Patsy Messick of Panama City; six grandchildren; and one great grandchild; and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.

The funeral service took place Monday, August 19, 2019 at 1:00 P.M. at the First Assembly of God in Douglas with Rev. Drake Lomax, Rev. Byron Griffis and Rev. Marshall Adcock officiating. A graveside service and interment was held on Wednesday, August 21, 2019 at 10:00 A.M. at Evergreen Memorial Gardens in Panama City, Fla.

Ricketson Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
