Mrs. Mary Helen Wright Tanner, 84, of Douglas passed away at Coffee Regional Medical Center on Friday August 16, 2019. She was born on Tuesday, May 28, 1935 in Coffee County to the Late Arlie James Wright and Pearl P. Wright Mancil. She was a homemaker and a member of Saving Grace Ministries.

Mrs. Tanner is survived by daughters; Brenda Sue Merritt of Douglas, Judith Ann Payton (Alvin) of Douglas, and Lynn Michele Smith (Scotty) of Douglas; sister Olis Cryder; grandchildren that she raised, Candace Parkerson and Chris Johnson; 13 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. 

Other than her parents, she is preceded in death by two sons, James Elmer Tanner and Eddie Wayne Tanner; daughter Beverly Joyce Johnson; grandson Brandon Tanner; great-granddaughter Savannah Highsmith; and four sisters, Ruby Wright, Dell Taylor, June Fisher and Joyce Parrot. 

The funeral took place Sunday, August 18, 2019 at 2:00 PM in the chapel of Johnson Funeral & Cremation Services. Burial followed at Forest Grove Cemetery.

Johnson Funeral & Cremation Services was in charge of the arrangements.
