Willene Ray Carter, age 80, of Pearson, passed away on Friday evening August 23, 2019 at her residence. Mrs. Carter was born on September 1, 1938 in Lumber City, the daughter of the late Max L. Ray and Dollie Stovall Ray.

Mrs. Carter was a retired professional secretary/ administrative assistant with American Heritage Life Insurance Company after twenty-five years, a fifteen year member of the Coffee Regional Medical Center Auxiliary and a member of First Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two sisters, Janice Stone and Christine Hutto.

Survivors include her husband of fifty-nine years, Paul W. Carter of Pearson; daughter, Renee C. Stoun (husband  Doug ) of Tallahassee, FL; son, Stanley N. Carter (wife Susan) of Jacksonville, FL;  three grandchildren, Sarah Ann Sacharski (husband Scott) of Jacksonville, FL, Alisha Paulene Stoun-Mosca (husband Carlo) of San Diego, CA and Jessica Anna Guy (husband Cecil) of Minot, ND;  great grandson, Roberto Pine Mosca; sister, Hazel Maxine Hutcheson of LaGrange, GA; brother, Max L. Ray Jr of Danville, GA; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday August 27, 2019 at 4:00 pm from First Baptist Church with Rev. Shep Johnson and Rev. Don Hattaway officiating. Interment will follow at Roxie Mae Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Tuesday afternoon from 3pm until 4pm prior to the service at First Baptist Church. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to, First Baptist Church 124 N. Gaskin Ave., Douglas, GA 31534

Sims Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
