SGSC Foundation welcomes new trustees and officers

The South Georgia State College Foundation kicked off its new year and welcomed three new members to its Board of Trustees at the August meeting. Mr. Andrew Holt, Mrs. Darlene Paulk and Mr. Oscar Street each will serve a three-year term as part of the Class of 2022. Each are alumni of SGSC and call the Douglas area home.

Mr. Holt is a pharmacist and owns McRae’s Pharmacy. He also serves as president of our region for the Georgia Pharmacy Association. Mrs. Paulk is the Manager of the Georgia Department of Driver Services Waycross office and is the women’s auxiliary president for American Legion post 515 and a member of the Red Cross disaster relief committee. Mr. Street is a retired educator and has served on the boards of Ameris Bank and Coffee Regional Medical Center and has been a long-time active member of the Douglas Rotary Club.

“I value what each of these dedicated community members brings to the SGSC Foundation Board, and I look forward to the contributions they will make to enhance key initiatives for the college and our students,” comments Ms. Walda Kight, vice president for institutional advancement.

In addition to welcoming new board members, the SGSC Foundation installed a new slate of officers for the 2019-2020 fiscal year. Dr. Tracy McClelland, Founder and CEO of Ycarte’ Health Career Center, will serve as President. Mr. Donny Bradshaw, CFO of Elixir Extrusions, will serve as Vice President. Ms. Stacey Hill, Administrator of Vista Park Health and Rehabilitation, will serve as Treasurer. Mr. Keith Woodward, Optima Chemical Supply Chain Manager, will serve as Secretary. Mr. Tom Smith, community volunteer and retired business executive, will serve as Past President. During the meeting, Mr. Smith was also recognized and presented a token of appreciation for his service as President for the 2018-2019 year.

The South Georgia State College Foundation was created in 1971 by area business and community leaders.  The mission of the South Georgia State College Foundation is to help transform and enhance the lives of our diverse student population by providing educational opportunities, financial support and advocacy for our students.  By generating, processing and allocating gifts for the Douglas Campus, the Foundation supports efforts that enhance the quality of programs by funding scholarships, new academic initiatives, technology, endowments, faculty/staff development, athletic programs and capital projects at SGSC.

For more information about the SGSC Foundation or to make a donation, please contact Ms. Walda Kight, vice president for institutional advancement, by phone at 912-260-4274 or by email at walda.kight@sgsc.edu.
