Mr. Curtis Patrick Newell, age 72 of Ambrose, passed away late Sunday night, September 8, 2019, at his residence following an extended illness. Mr. Newell was born September 13, 1946 to the late John Newell and the late Annie Grace McGowen Newell. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, J.W. Newell.

Mr. Newell, a native of Coffee County, was a self-employed carpenter. He had also worked for the Coffee County Board of Education Maintenance Department. Mr. Newell was a member of Douglas Gospel Assembly.

Survivors include: Wife: Geraldine Butler Newell of Ambrose; sister Lillie Cox of Gulf Port, Miss.; special nephew Landon Cecil Vickers of Ambrose; grandchildren Rebecca Sholtz of Virginia, Ethan Peacock, Albert Peacock, and Mary Lynn Peacock, all of
Broxton; special friends Hugh and Therese Paulk of Wray and Johnny and Marla Day of Ambrose; several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.

The funeral service was Wednesday morning, September 11, 2019, at 11:00 A.M. at Douglas Gospel Assembly with Rev. Allen Peacock officiating. The interment followed in the church cemetery.

Ricketson Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
