Rev. Evelyn Brigmond Roberts Cox, age 86 of Carrollton, Texas, formerly of Douglas, passed away early Saturday morning at Autumn Leaves Nursing Facility in Carrollton, Texas, following an extended illness. Rev. Cox was born January 9, 1933 to the late Lawrence Brigmond and the late Maude Sapp Brigmond. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Lebern Cox, a brother, Johnny Brigmond and a son-in-law Paul Lavigne.

Rev. Cox ,a native of Coffee County, was a retired minister with the Church of God. She was a former pastor of Pineview Church of God in West Green.

Survivors include: Children Terry Lavigne of The Colony, Texas, Tina Roberts of The Colony, Texas, and John Roberts and wife Susan of Carrollton, Texas; other special children Steve and Sarah Glass of Chandler, Arizona and Richard and Sally Compton of Tempe, Arizona; grandchildren Amy Bailey of Chandler, Arizona, Emily Glass of Chandler, Arizona, and Seth Compton of Long Beach, California; siblings Edna Spell of Odessa, Fla., Margaret McDaniel of Douglas, Jeannine Clifton and husband Raymond of Jacksonville, Fla., and Donnie Brigmond and wife Judy of Douglas; sister-in-law Lois Brigmond of Douglas; and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.

The funeral service will be Saturday, October 5, 2019 at noon at West Ward Church of God with Rev. Leroy Spivey and Rev. Craig Jump officiating. The interment will follow in Rocky Pond Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Thursday evening, October 3, 2019 from 6:00 to 9:00 P.M. and Friday evening, October 4, 2019 from 6:00 to 9:00 P.M. at Chapel of Ricketson Funeral Home.

Ricketson Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
