Mrs. Jo Carolyn Carver Reed, age 79 of Douglas, passed away Sunday afternoon, October 6, 2019 at her residence following an extended illness. Mrs. Reed was born January 10, 1940 to the late Charles Allen Carver and the late Lessie Anderson Carver. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Ralph Reed; brothers Allen Carver, Jr., Wayne Carver and Charles W. Carver; and a sister, Shirley Carver.

Mrs. Reed, a native of Coffee County, was retired from the State of Georgia, Satilla Service Developmental Disabilites. She was a member of First Assembly of God.

Survivors include: Son Michael Reed and wife Debra of Nicholls; daughters Melinda Reed Jordan and husband Billy of Douglas and Melissa Reed Whitley and husband Bruce of Douglas; sister Mary Willie Paul and husband Jimmy of Zephyrhills, Fla.; sister-in-law Barbara Carver of Bushnell; grandchildren Jonathan Reed, Leslie McMillan, Selina Boggan, Kristen Music and Ethan Whitley; 10 great-grandchildren; special caregivers Debra Courson and Phoebe Burch; several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.

The funeral service will be Wednesday, October 9, 2019 at 2:00 P.M. at First Assembly of God with Rev. Marshall Adcock and Rev. Brandon McMillan officiating. The interment will follow in Salem Cemetery. Mrs. Reed will be placed in the church Wednesday at 1:00 P.M. to lie in state until the funeral hour.

The family will receive friends, Tuesday evening, October 8, 2019 from 6:00 P.M.-9:00 P.M at Ricketson Funeral Home.

Ricketson Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
