October is Fire Prevention Month

The Douglas Fire Department (DFD) is celebrating October as Fire Prevention Month.

Continuing with the theme from NFPA’s National Fire Prevention Week, Not Every Hero Wears A Cape: Plan and Practice Your Escape, the DFD is focusing on the importance of planning and practicing fire escape in the home, business, and school.  Fire education programs will be offered for all ages through fire prevention presentations in the schools, daycares, and other places of business.

To schedule a visit from our City of Douglas Fire Department or to learn more about their outreach programs, please contact Shirley Ross, (912) 384-4815.  Customers can register at City Hall for a drawing that will be held on October 25, 2019 for FREE smoke detectors and fire extinguishers. Through these educational, family-oriented activities, residents can learn more about the importance of smoke alarms and fire safety, as well as the power of fire prevention and education.  For more information about fire prevention week, call (912) 384-4815.
