Mr. William Gordon Smith, age 75 of Nicholls, passed away Friday morning, November 8, 2019 at his residence following an extended illness. Mr. Smith was born March 24, 1944 to the late William Bernard Smith and the late Cora Lee Grantham Smith. Other than his parents he was preceded in death by a son, Travis Smith and a sister: Martha Chesser.

Mr. Smith , a native of Coffee County, was a farmer and a businessman having owned and operated a successful wrecker service.

Survivors include: His wife, Geraldine Merritt Smith of Nicholls; sister Margaret Day of Douglas; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.

The funeral service was Sunday, November 10, 2019 at 3:00 P.M. at Chapel of Ricketson Funeral Home with Rev. Edsel Young officiating and Dwayne Gillis presenting a eulogy. The interment followed in New Hope Cemetery with Rev. Carroll Carver conducting the graveside service.

Ricketson Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
