Betty Jean Buchan, age 85, of Nicholls, passed away on Wednesday November 20, 2019 at Irwin County Hospital.

Mrs. Buchan was born on October 7, 1934 in Irwin County, the daughter of the late Curtis Barrentine and the late Nellie Grantham Barrentine. She was a homemaker and a member of Saginaw Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, J.W. Buchan; brother, Buddy Barrentine; sister, Evelyn Rowell; granddaughter, Joy Burnam, great grandson; Jesse Knowles; and son-in-law, Clinton Russ.

Survivors include four daughters, Sherry Russ of Nicholls, Debby Burnam (Mickey) of Nicholls, Dinky Kirkland (Mike) of Nicholls and Stacy Davis (Bobby) of Nicholls; eight grandchildren, Josh Russ (Tonya), Rockki Russ (Barbara), Buffy Knowles (John), Nellie Wicker, Terra Orseno (Justin), Brandy Kirkland, Kassidy Carter (Michael) and Jordan Davis; fourteen great grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon November 24, 2019 from 1pm until 3pm at Saginaw Baptist Church. Funeral services will be held on Sunday, November 24, 2019 at 3:00pm at Saginaw Baptist Church with Rev. Donnie Kirkland, Rev. L.G. Aldridge officiating and a eulogy by Nina Gail Simpson. Interment will follow in the Saginaw Church cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Rockki Russ, Josh Russ, Jordan Davis, Bailey Russ, Tyler Russ, Chance Knowles, Michael Carter and Reed Chaney. Honorary pallbearers will be employees with Hospice Care Options, Ocilla.

Sims Funeral Home, Douglas, GA is in charge of arrangements.
