Mr. Neilus Allen “Sonny” Vaughn

Mr. Neilus Allen “Sonny” Vaughn, age 80 of Douglas, passed away Sunday morning, November 24, 2019 at his residence following an extended illness. Mr. Vaughn was born November 27, 1938 to the late Marvin Vaughn and the late Hester Harper Vaughn. He was preceded in death by two sisters, Jettie Mae Griffis and Winnie Sue Sears.

Mr. Vaughn, a native of Coffee County, was a cable repairman for GTE for many years. He attended West Ward Church of God. He also a veteran of the US Army.

Survivors include his wife, Monna Faye Baker Vaughn of Douglas; daughter Lana Michelle Vaughn of Andalusia, Ala; brothers Rev. Joseph Vaughn and wife Marlene of Wray and Rev. Glenn Vaughn and wife Janie Ruth of Douglas; several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.

The funeral service will be Wednesday, November 27, 2019 at 11:00 A.M. at West Ward Church of God with Rev. Joseph Vaughn and Rev. Glenn Vaughn officiating. The interment will follow in Douglas City Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Tuesday evening, November 26, 2019 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at West Ward Church of God.

Ricketson Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
