Wanell Hutchison, age 89, of Nicholls, passed away on Monday December 2, 2019 at her residence. Mrs. Hutchison, born on July 4, 1930 in Berrien County, was the daughter of the late Vernon Gillespie and the late Ludell Miranda Vickery Gillespie.

Mrs. Hutchison retired from Campbell’s Soup, was a homemaker and was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, J. B. Hutchison; son, Bobby Hutchison; grandson, Stuart Hutchison; two brothers, James Gillespie and Lonnie Gillespie.

Survivors include two sons, Dr. Larry Hutchison (Sue) of Douglas and Verlon Hutchison (Sheila) of Douglas; daughter-in-law, Freida Hutchison of Douglas; two brothers, Carlton Gillespie (Mary Lou) of Douglas and Bert (Barbara) Gillespie of Prattville, Ala.; six grandchildren, Jonathan (Carie) Hutchison of Douglas; Emily Stanley (Ed) of Douglas; David Hutchison (Christina) of Nicholls; Ricky Hutchison (Carol) of Ambrose; Spencer Hutchison (Kacie) of Douglas and Ryan Hutchison (Rachel) of Ochlocknee; eleven great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Graveside services were held on Thursday December 5, 2019 at 2:00 pm at New Harmony Grove Church Cemetery in Atkinson County with Pastor Mark Mercer officiating. Pallbearers were Jonathan Hutchison, Ed Stanley, David Hutchison, Ricky Hutchison, Spencer Hutchison and Ryan Hutchison.

Memorials may be made to College Avenue Baptist Church, 714 College Ave. S, Douglas, GA 31533.

Sims Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
