Mr. James Albert Brannon, age 86 of Douglas, passed away Tuesday afternoon, December 24, 2019 at St. Joseph/Candler Hospital in Savannah following a short illness. Mr. Brannon was born February 10, 1933 to the late James Byron Brannon and the late Edna Earl Peebles Brannon. Other than his parents, Mr. Brannon was preceded in death by his wife, Wilma Jean Dugins Brannon, and a daughter, Melanie Delaine Brannon Hires.

Mr. Brannon, a native of Henry County, Ala., had lived in Douglas for many years. He was a logging contractor and he was a US Navy veteran, having served during the Korean War.

Survivors include: Daughter Deborah Ann Brannon of Douglas; grandchildren Heather Renee Hires of Cashier, N.C.  and Paul Lucas Hires of Brevard, N.C.; sisters Dorothy Nell Brewington of Adel and Christine McLean of Broxton; brothers David Earl Brannon of Tifton and Larry Fletcher Brannon of Marietta; great grandchild Granger Hires of Brevard, N.C.; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.

The graveside service and interment will be Friday, December 27, 2019 at 3:00 P.M. at Royals Cemetery in Atkinson County with Minister Jerry Hudson officiating.

Ricketson Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
