Raymond ‘Ray’ Payne Hand

Raymond “Ray” Payne Hand, 83 of Jesup died Monday, December 30, 2019.  The Coffee County native and former resident of Savannah was a member of Crossroads Church of God.  The 46-year retired Church of God pastor was a U.S. Air Force veteran.  The avid reader, family man and student of the Word pastored East Savannah Church of God for 26 years and several other churches in the area.  He was predeceased by his two sisters, Agnes Lewis and Anna Ruth Peterson; three brothers, John Allen, Vernon and Cecil Hand.

 

Survivors are his wife of 59 years, Gennell Christian Hand of Jesup; daughters, Rhonda (Robert) Sellars of Savannah, Kristi (Dan) Collipp of Jesup and April (Kevin) King of Savannah; grandchildren, Hannah (Austin) Freeman, Sarah and Millie Sellars, Isabella and Sam Collipp, Norah King; a brother, Otis (Edna Mae) Hand of Del City, OK; several nieces and nephews.

 

Funeral services will be 11 AM Friday, January 3, 2020 at Crossroads Church of God with Rev. Hulet Smith and Rev. Grey Robinson officiating. Graveside funeral services will follow at 2 PM at Satilla Memorial Gardens, 2119 Broxton Road, Douglas, Ga. 31533.  Active pallbearers will be his family and friends.

 

Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the church.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Crossroads Church of God, 2949 Lanes Bridge Road, Jesup, Ga. 31533. 

 

Rinehart and Sons Funeral Home of Jesup is in charge of arrangements.
