The Douglas Police Department is investigating the shooting deaths of two purebred huskies on the Highway 206 Connector, according to a post on the DPD’s Facebook page.

On Jan. 1, 2020, the two dogs, which lived on Schley Street in Douglas, left their property without their owner’s knowledge. Three hours later, the owner learned that her dogs were on the Connector in front of Coffee Middle School. Both of the huskies had been shot, one fatally. The surviving dog was taken to a local veterinarian for treatment. However, the dog passed away during surgery on Jan. 2.

Officers are investigating the incident as an aggravated animal cruelty case and is seeking more information as to who shot the dogs. If you have any information, please contact the Douglas Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Unit at 912-384-2222 or the Anonymous Tip Line at 912-260-3600.
