Ettie ‘Jean’ Bookout Vickers

Ettie “Jean” Bookout Vickers, age 62, of Ambrose, passed away on Friday, January 10, 2020 at her residence. Mrs. Vickers was born on March 22, 1957 in Douglas, the daughter of Marvin Vasco Bookout and Wanda Mae McRorie Bookout.

 

Mrs. Vickers was former owner/operator of Jean’s Teams Logistics and a member of Mt. Union Primitive Baptist Church in Ambrose.

 

Survivors include her husband, Michael Elmer Vickers of Ambrose; daughter, Jennifer Day Childers (husband, Zane) of Ocilla; four sons, Michael Elmer Vickers Jr. (wife, Joy) of Douglas, Ashley Jerome Day (wife, Kristin) of Cobbtown, Jared Elie Vickers (wife, Melissa) of Broxton, and Marvin Todd Vickers (wife, Cindy) of Warner Robins; parents, Marvin and Wanda Bookout of Douglas; sister, Marcia Leigh Steed (husband, Johnny) of Nicholls; two brothers, Keith Bookout (wife, Cindy) of Douglas and Dewayne Bookout (wife, Schannon) of Douglas; eighteen grandchildren, Daisy Tucker, Katie Belle Tucker, Logan Freeman, Clay Childers, Cole Wallace, Abby Vickers, Miley Vickers, Cody Reid, Hunter Reid, Kason Reid, Ty Vickers, Jaycee Vickers, Ansley Day, Sawyer Day, Lucy Day, Jackson Vickers, Philip Vickers and Emily Vickers, several nieces and nephews.

 

Funeral services will be held on Monday, January 13, 2020 at 11:00am at Mt. Union Primitive Baptist Church with Rev. Walt DeLoach, Rev. Phillip Smith and Rev. David Davis officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Cory Vickers, Cody Reid, Robbie Carr, Cason Steed, Cole Wallace and Adam Smith.

 

Musical selections will be “How Great Thou Art” sung by Ricky Smith and church choir, congregational song “Old Rugged Cross” and Phillip Smith singing “Clinging to a Saving Hand.” Joseph DeLoach, pianist, will play throughout the service.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to, Mt. Union Cemetery Fund, 1302 Hwy 149, Ambrose, GA 31512.

 

Sims Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
