Mrs. Katie McAllister, wife of Mr. Tommy McAllister, passed away on Monday, January 6, 2020 at South Georgia Medical Center in Valdosta. Funeral services were held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, January 11, 2020 at The Mind of Christ of the Living God Ministries in Douglas.

Katie Mae McAllister, 74, was born the daughter of the late Willis Cutler and the late Hannah Crockett in Douglas. Katie was born on January 13, 1945. Katie was a devoted wife to Tommie Lee McAllister. The two were married in March of 1989. She is also a loving mother. Together they have one daughter, Thomasina Bailey (Norman Bailey Jr.) and she has an adopted son Daniel Lewis. She recently became a grandmother to six-month-old, Legynd Bailey and expecting another in which she was confident will be a sweet little girl. Katie was one of the sweetest souls one could ever meet. She always had a dance in her step, a smile on her face and a song in her heart. She was an employee of Walmart Supercenter for eighteen years. Even if you didn’t know her name you knew her voice. She was the “little singing lady.”

Mother Katie McAllister’s church membership was with Perpetual Praise & Worship Ministries in Douglas under the leadership of Senior Pastor Elder Van B. Henderson.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Hannah Crockett; father, Willis Cutler; sisters, Alberta Carter, Willie Mae Ward, and Hannah Mae Williams; brothers, James Cutler, Stafford Cutler, Willis Cutler, and Clyde Cutler.

She leaves to cherish her memory: Her husband, Tommie Lee McAllister of Ambrose; Thomasina Bailey (biological daughter) of San Antonio, Texas; and Daniel Lewis (adopted son) of Douglas; sisters Lillie Mae Jefferson of Douglas and Julie Ann Belamy of New Jersey; god-son, Bernar Henderson of Douglas; brothers and sisters in-law, Late-Barbara Pugh (Charles) of Douglas; Late-Clara Mincey ( Jim) of California; Late-Ulysess McAllister ( Ethel) of Ambrose; Frankie McAllister ( Mattie) of Jacksonville, Ga.; Jimmy McAllister (Sandra) of Douglas; Bonnie Gardner (Henry) of Vidalia; Marsha Aaron (Jimmy) of Albany; and Buford McAllister (Pamela) of Ray City; and other relatives and friends.

McIver Funeral Home of Douglas was in charge of the arrangements.
