Mr. George Albert Murray, age 75 of Forsyth, passed away peacefully in his sleep at his residence on Monday morning, February 3, 2020. Mr. Murray was born October 27, 1944 to the late Harland Murray and the late Viannah Murray. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Wade Murray, and four brothers, Harland Murray, Jr., Dewayne Murray, Stanley Murray and Dale Murray.

Mr. Murray, a native of Coffee County, had a 50-year career in the paper mill business. He was an esteemed member of Couch Pit University, an exclusive fraternity for papermakers. He was an active member of the North Macon Church of Christ.

Survivors include: His wife, Janie Ladd Murray of Forsyth, GA; children Gina Hubbard of Tifton, GA, Tammy Curry of TyTy, GA, and Keisha Herrin of Tifton, GA; siblings Sandra Nelson and husband Tom of Chapel Hill, NC, Pam Smith and husband Donnie of Ambrose, GA Terry Murray, Gail Murray, Chester Murray and Scarlett Griffin and husband Ben, all of Nicholls, GA, Denise Burkett and husband Keith of West Green; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

The funeral service will be Friday, February 7, 2020 at 11:00 A.M. at Jowers Chapel Holiness Baptist Church with Rev. Harry Goff and Rev. H. P Murray officiating. The interment will follow at Jowers Chapel Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Thursday, February 6, 2020 from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. at Ricketson Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in George’s memory to the North Macon Church of Christ 1190 Bass Road Macon, GA 31210 or to the American Cancer Society / www.donatecancer.org.

Ricketson Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
