Mary Virginia Carter, age 82, of Willacoochee, Georgia, passed away on Sunday, February 9, 2020 in Winter Gardens, Florida. Mrs. Carter was born on November 11, 1937 in Ware County, Georgia, the daughter of the late Vinson Kenneth Chaplin and the late Emma Jane Cribbs Chaplin.

She was a retired nursing assistant with Emerald Green Nursing Home, a member of the Willacoochee Seniors and a member of Lax Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Henry Carter; three sons, Vinson Carlos Carter, Glenn Carter and Ronald Hank “Henry” Carter; and two daughters, Robin Carter and Wanda Decker.

Survivors include son, Robert David Carter (Suzie) of Ft. Lauderdale, FL,: two daughters, Donna C. Hrabel of Ft. Meade, FL and Cathy Richardson of Oviedo, FL; brother, Kenny Chaplin of Boonesville, AK; four sisters, Martha Hall of Lax, GA, Vivian Chaplin of Pearson, GA, Cherry Lawrence of Pearson, GA and Emma Jane Fine of Live Oak, FL; sixteen grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 13, 2020 at 2:00pm at Sims Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Harris Johnson officiating. Interment will follow at New Hope Church Cemetery. A reception will follow at the Atco Senior Center, 68 Boone Street, Willacoochee, GA 31650.

Sims Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
