Sheriff Doyle Wooten has announced that he will seek a third term as Sheriff of Coffee County. Here is Sheriff Wooten’s announcement:

“I would like to thank the voters of Coffee County for their confidence in electing me your sheriff during the last two elections. I am asking the voters to again allow me to continue as your sheriff for a third term.

“Being a Sheriff requires a lot of hard work and at times is very difficult; however, the rewards are great, and it is worth every minute.

“I continue to care deeply about all our families and the future of Coffee County, and I still believe that together we can create a safer community for us all.

“I am a 1971 graduate of Coffee County High School and continued my education obtaining a two-year degree in Criminal Justice in 1973 from South Georgia College and a four-year degree in Criminal Justice in 1975 from Valdosta State College.

“I began my career in law enforcement in the Coffee County Sheriff’s Office in 1975 as a deputy for three years, the last two years as Chief Deputy.

“In 1979, I was hired as a State Probation Officer where I supervised individuals place on probation by State and Superior Courts. In this position, I assisted in the creation of the Coffee County Work Detail at the direction of Judge Holton as an additional sanction for probationers.

“I worked 29 years for the State Board of Pardons and Paroles, retiring as Chief Parole Officer in 2011.

“During my career, I assisted in creating the Victims’ Rights Group for Coffee County in 1998. This group was instrumental in creating the Coffee County Children’s Advocacy Center known as Sadie’s House, which is a facility that provides services for children who have been victims of abuse and neglect. Sadie’s House now serves Coffee and several surrounding counties.

“Again, I humbly ask for your support and vote as I seek re-election in 2020 for Sheriff of Coffee County.”
