Cathalene Taylor, age 83, of Douglas, Georgia passed away on Monday, February 24, 2020 at her residence. Mrs. Taylor was born on November 2, 1936 in Buena Vista, Georgia, the daughter of the late Charlie Victor Dobbs and the late Sarah Elizabeth Parks Dobbs.

Mrs. Taylor was retired head teller from Farmers Bank (Trust Company) and a member of First Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School (4 and 5 year olds) for forty-eight years.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald L. Taylor.

Survivors include two sons, Scott Taylor of Douglas, GA and Craig Taylor of Jacksonville, FL; two grandchildren, Nathan Taylor (Anna) of Douglas, GA and Natalie Crews (Collin) of Douglas, GA; three great grandchildren, Carleigh Crews, Ayden Taylor and Brinley Taylor;  two sisters, Carolyn Pope of Valdosta, GA and Cornelia Cook (Harold) of Moultrie, GA; two brothers, Dwane Dobbs (Florence) of Crossville, TN and Larry Dobbs (Melody) of Lakeland, FL; several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Wednesday evening, February 26, 2020 from 6pm until 9pm at Sims Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 27, 2020 at 11:00am at First Baptist Church with Dr. Don Hattaway and Rev. Shep Johnson officiating. Interment will follow at Douglas City Cemetery. 

Pallbearers will be Josh Dobbs, Jason Dobbs, Todd Cook, Tim White, Pharr Mullis, Todd Wade, Marc Thomas and Barney Spivey.

Music will be provided by Terri Bailey singing, “In the Garden” and “Serenaded by Angels” accompanied by Marsha Gilliard on piano. Marsha Gilliard played prelude and postlude music.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to, First Baptist Church 124 Gaskin Ave N, Douglas, GA 31533.

Sims Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
