Ms. Josephine Grantham Thurman, age 84 of Douglas, passed away early Sunday morning, February 23, 2020 at Vista Park Health and Rehabilitation following an extended illness. Mrs. Thurman was born August 1, 1935 to the late Cecil Grantham and the late Doris Carter Grantham. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Carl Rence Thurman and siblings Bobby Grantham and Jenny Harkleroad.

Ms. Thurman was a native of Coffee County. She was a homemaker.

Survivors include: Daughters Carol Wiley and husband Don of Americus, GA, Mary Jo Moreno and husband Ric of Montezuma, GA, and Dale McCook and husband Mike of Douglas, GA; siblings Betty Whitley of Douglas, GA, Doris Nell Horton of Alma, GA, Patsy Rowell and husband Larry of Douglas, GA, Cecil Grantham, Jr. of Broxton, GA, Barbara Miller of Broxton, GA, Johnny Grantham and wife Kay of Broxton, GA, Linda Rish and husband Eddie of Broxton, GA, Gail Summerlin and husband Curtis of Douglas, GA, Lynn Dockery and husband Bennie of Broxton, GA; four grandchildren; five great grandchildren; and a number of nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends.

The funeral service will be Thursday afternoon, February 27, 2020 at 2:00 PM at Chapel of Ricketson Funeral Home with Bro. Neil Greenwell officiating. The interment will follow in Grantham Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Thursday afternoon, February 27, 2020 from 1:00 pm until the funeral hour at Ricketson Funeral Home.

Ricketson Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
