Yesterday, Gov. Brian Kemp announced that coronavirus has arrived in Georgia. Two individuals, both who live in the same house, have been diagnosed in Fulton County. One of the individuals recently visited Italy. With the virus getting closer and closer to South Georgia, both Coffee Regional Medical Center and the Coffee County School System have released statements regarding the virus.

Here is CRMC’s statement:

“As your healthcare provider, Coffee Regional Medical Center conducts ongoing reviews assessing and reviewing protocols involving infectious disease containment and control. In response to the potential for the spread of coronavirus within the United States, please be reassured that CRMC continuously works closely with the Centers for Disease Control and authorities from the State of Georgia to ensure care and safety of caregivers and patients. CRMC will share more information as it becomes available.”

The Coffee County School System’s statement is as follows:

“The Coffee County School System is closely monitoring the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) outbreak and is working with local, state, and federal officials to stay informed about the progress of the disease. Our administrators, faculty, and school nursing staff are taking additional steps to inform the community about the nature of the disease and to help prevent the spread of this and other communicable diseases withing our school system and community. As always, we are committed to the safety and well-being of our students and will continue to follow guidelines and recommendations from the Centers for Disease Control and the Georgia Department of Education.”
