The Coffee County Sheriff’s Office reports that neither employees nor inmates in the jail have tested positive for COVID-19. Two jail officers have been tested and are at home in self-quarantine. Tuesday, the sheriff’s office released the following statement:

“As of today (Tuesday), there are no known cases of COVID-19 in the Coffee County Jail. Two inmates are being quarantined for precautionary measures. Neither are showing signs or symptoms. We have sent two jail officers that ‘possibly’ could have been around someone infected or others, to go home and self-quarantine. These jail officers did not show any signs or symptoms, we are just taking precautionary measures.

“One jail officer was sent home with fever for self-quarantine and to follow up with the clinic or medical personnel if they have further symptoms. As of today, 3/24/20, we have two jail officers that have been tested after being screened and showing symptoms. These test results are pending. They have both been sent home after being tested, for self-quarantine, while awaiting results.

“Coffee Regional Medical Center is our medical provider and are housed within the confines of the Coffee County Jail. Our inmates and staff are under the care of the Coffee Regional Medical Center.

“Thank you to everyone for working with us and we appreciate your prayers.”
