Jacquelyn “Jackie” Whitaker, age 82, of Broxton, Georgia passed away on Tuesday, April 7, 2020 in Savannah, Georgia. Mrs. Whitaker was born on March 11, 1938 in Ben Hill County daughter of the late Fred and Maggie Jewell Smith.

Mrs. Whitaker was a homemaker and of the Holiness faith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Julian Smith and a sister, Barbara Jean Thiel.

Survivors include two daughters, Cynthia McKinnon of Willacoochee, GA and Sharon Goodman (Lee) of Naylor, GA; four grandchildren, Devin McKinnon, Kimberly McKinnon, Garrett Goodman and Madison Goodman; special friend, Quincey Fender of Broxton, GA; six sisters, Geraldine Richardson (Felton) of Willacoochee, GA, Rita Anderson of Douglas, GA, Ruby Nell Stracener (Tommy) of Douglas, GA, Ann Batten (Ricky) of Willacoochee, GA, Juanita Rogers (Perry) of Vienna, GA and Kay Gibson (Pete) of Waycross, GA; two brothers, Carl Smith (Kathy) of Fitzgerald, GA and Leon Smith (Michelle) of Fitzgerald, GA; several nieces and nephews.

Due to the current coronavirus outbreak a private family visitation will be held with a graveside service planned for 2:00 P.M. Thursday, April 9, 2020 at the Lone Hill Cemetery with Rev. Lloyd Burkett and Rev. Jeremy Cox officiating. Pallbearers will be Devin McKinnon, Garrett Goodman, Kimberly McKinnon, Madison Goodman and Lee Goodman. Attendees are asked to bring lawn chairs and comply with the current guidelines and restrictions concerning containment of the coronavirus, including social distancing.

Sims Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
