It is with great sadness that we announce passing of Mrs. Florence Carter Jackson on April 19, 2020. Our heartfelt condolences are extended to the Carter Jackson family during their time of bereavement. Graveside funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, April 25, 2020 at Douglas City Cemetery.

 

Mother Florence Carter Jackson was born on March 31,1931 in Mora, Georgia to the late Mr. Arthur Davis and the late Annie Bell Gaskin.

 

Mama, as she was lovingly called, was a caring and loving person. She always had her door open to anyone who needed a place to stay, or a hot meal. Most of all she had a word of prayer for you, and she made sure she told you about the goodness of the Lord. Mother Jackson was a great provider for her family. Having work forty plus years with Douglas Foods, and later Campbell Soup, retiring in September 1997.

 

Mother Jackson was married to the late Mr. Jim Carter Sr. for over forty plus years, and to this union nine children were born. The late Ms. Dianne Carter, and the late Mr. James Carter proceeded her in death. Fifteen years after the death of Mr. Jim Carter, she met and married the late Elder Leroy Jackson Sr. which blended two families together.

 

Mother Jackson was lifelong member of the Church of God in Unity, under the leadership of Pastor Jerry Donaldson. She served as a mother of the church, Sunday School teacher, and Bible Study teacher. She was a dedicated Christian.

 

Mother Jackson was also preceded in death by two sisters Mrs. Sally Mae Willis and Mrs. Fannie Gifford, six brothers in law; Mr. Tim Carter, Mr. Fernell Carter, Mr. Mack Carter Sr., Mr. Nathaniel Carter, Mr. George T. Gaffney and Mr. Qunnis Gaffney, six sisters in law; Mrs. Middie McDuffie, Mrs. Willie Pearl Glover, Mrs. Lessie Moody, Mrs. Wanda Faye King, Mrs. Minnie S. Carter, and Mrs. Wanda Carter, one son in law; Mr. Benjamin Moore Sr.

 

She leaves to cherish her memories her devoted children; Mr. Jim (Carolyn) Carter Jr, Mr. Daniel Carter, Mrs. Barbara Moore. Mr. Charles Carter, Mr. Bruce (Coretta) Carter, Mr. Steve Carter, and Mrs. Angela (Phillip) Morgan, all of Douglas, Georgia; Mrs. Carolyn Miller, Ms. Elaine Jackson, Bishop Leroy Jackson Jr, Mr. Jerome (Connell) Jackson all of Jesup, Georgia. Minister Dyane (Bob) Bryant, Mr. Paul Randolph Jackson, and Bobby Jackson all of Surrency, Georgia; Mrs. Stephanie (Walter) Mizel, Mr. Tereaki Carter, both of Coffee County; Mrs. April (Anthony) Felton of St. Augustine Florida, Mr. Randall (Krystal) Carter of Jacksonville Florida; one Godson Mr. Kevin Watts; her two sisters Mrs. Willie Mae Anderson of Sandford Florida, and Mrs. Olla Mae McBride of San Diego California, five sisters in law Mrs. Joyce Sheppard, Mrs. Rhoda (Johnny Lee) Eady of Ambrose, Georgia, Mrs. Katie Moore, Ms. Donna Carter, Mrs. Linda Davis all of Douglas, Georgia; one brother in law Mr. Curtis (Cathy) Carter. A host of loving grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and sorrowing friends.
