Joseph Leland Mullis, age 89, of Douglas, Georgia, passed away on Sunday, May 10, 2020 at Pruitt Health, Ocilla, Georgia. Mr. Mullis was born on December 19, 1930 in Bibb County, Georgia, the son of the late Hollis Mullis and Nellie Kelly Mullis.

Mr. Mullis was a graduate of Lanier High School, Macon, GA and attended Mercer University. He retired after forty-three years as a pharmaceutical sales representative for McKesson Drug Company, was a veteran of the United States Army serving during the Korean War and was a member of First Baptist Church in Douglas.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of sixty-two years, Betty Joyce Williams Mullis; daughter, Linda Mullis; and a sister, Gwendolyn Mullis.

Survivors include his daughter, Brenda M. Lamy (Brian) of Douglas, GA; cousins, Mona Evans of Macon, GA, Gilda Ford of Suwanee, GA, Dennis Mullis of Cochran, GA and Lawton Mullis of Atlanta, GA; several nieces, nephews and friends.

Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, May 12, 2020 at 11:00am at Douglas City Cemetery with Rev. Shep Johnson officiating. The family will receive friends Tuesday morning from 10am until time of service at 11am at Douglas City Cemetery. Due to the current Coronavirus outbreak attendees are asked to comply with current guidelines and restrictions concerning containment of the coronavirus, including social distancing of six feet of separation.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church 124 Gaskin Ave, Douglas, GA 31533.

Sims Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
