During the month of May, CRMC Wound Care & Hyperbaric Clinic is asking all patients to play an active role in the wound healing process and become a “Sore Loser.” The Sore Loser program focuses on adherence to treatment plans and encourages collaboration between the patient and the provider.

The World Health Organization (WHO) reports that the average patient nonadherence rate is 50 percent for those living with chronic illnesses, such as a non-healing wound. The staff at CRMC Wound Care & Hyperbaric Clinic combats nonadherence by taking a patient-centered approach, tailoring care to the unique needs of each individual and focusing on ways the patient feels they will be successful in healing their wound.

“Taking the time to collect patient information and share ideas about how we can collaborate in his or her care is just as important as the treatment itself,” said Tracy Martini, FNP-C & Director of Clinic. “We want all of our patients to be ‘Sore Losers.’”

During consultation, patients are educated about the importance of actively participating in their care, attending all weekly appointments, and following the treatment plan prescribed by the wound care team.  Making a commitment to follow the care plan, offers the best opportunity for successful healing.

CRMC Wound Care & Hyperbaric Clinic provides a comprehensive approach to treating patients with non-healing wounds. The team features clinicians with advanced training in wound care and hyperbaric medicine.

CRMC Wound Care & Hyperbaric Clinic is open Monday through Friday. For more information about wound care or to schedule an appointment, call 912-720-7002. No referral is required.
