Johnny Wright, age 78, of Douglas, Georgia, passed away on Sunday, May 24, 2020 at his residence. Mr. Wright was born on July 31, 1941 in Coffee County, Georgia, the son of the late William Clayton Wright and Ola Isle Nipper Wright.
Mr. Wright was owner/operator of Wright’s Trucking, a veteran of the United States Army serving during the Korean War and was a member of Sand Hill Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Brianna Gilliard; and a brother, Jake Wright.
Survivors include his wife, LaRue H. Wright of Douglas, GA; four children, Jonna Pearce (Richard) of Douglas, GA, Caroline McGovern (Kevin) of Willacoochee, GA, Chip Wright (Becky) of West Green, GA and Rodney Corbitt (Kathy) of Talbott, TN; nine grandchildren, Kam Corbitt, Kalin Corbitt, Corey Wright (Caitlin) Cody Dale (Gabe), Keegan McGovern, Kelcey McGovern, Ellasyn Pearce, Liam Pearce and Willa Pearce; two great grandchildren, Kammie Corbitt and Sophie Dale; brother, Gerald “Pud” Wright (Shirley) of Douglas, GA; several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, May 26, 2020 at 11:00am at Satilla Memorial Gardens with Rev. Bob Powell and Rev. Charles Williams officiating with Devin Carver and Cristal Merritt giving eulogies.
Due to the coronavirus attendees are asked to comply with the current guidelines and restrictions concerning containment of the coronavirus, including social distancing with six feet separation.
