Mrs. Ollie Kirkland, age 91, formerly of Douglas, Georgia, entered into rest on Tuesday, May 19, 2020 in Thomasville, Georgia. She was born on August 18, 1928, in Denton, to the late Artis Elton (A.E.) Wilson and Stella Underwood Wilson.

Mrs. Kirkland loved reading, sewing, cooking, working crossword puzzles and jigsaw puzzles. She was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother and loved spending time with her family. She loved camping and visited all 50 states. Following her retirement as a Social Studies teacher, she became an avid traveler, and traveled all over the world, visiting 16 foreign countries.

Mrs. Kirkland was a Christian and committed her life to Jesus at the age of sixteen. She was a member of Central Baptist Church, in Douglas, Georgia, where she served in many roles, and was a long-time Sunday school teacher.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Ollie was preceded in death by her loving husband of 45 years, W.D. Kirkland (Bill); a grandson, Christopher Ethridge; and eight siblings, Evelyn Davidson, Madelyn Andrews, Duren Wilson, Dorothy Graham, Oliver Wilson, Jackie Andrews, Eva Mae Prescott and Jimmy Wilson.

Her memories will forever be treasured by her children and family, Joy (Walt) Grey, Thomasville, GA, Foy Kirkland (Lynn) of Dadeville, AL and Gay Atkinson (Dan Burch) of West Green, GA; Grandchildren include Kevin Ethridge, Jessica Wommack, Julie (Greg) Hamlin, Rheanna (Roby) Sewell and Connor (Elizabeth) Kirkland.
