Bettye Jo Mims Ouzts, age 88, of Douglas, Georgia, passed away on Wednesday, June 3, 2020 at Lakeside Senior Living. Mrs. Ouzts was born on August 14, 1931 in Colquitt County, Georgia, the daughter of the late Charles Emmitt Mims and Josie Perryman Mims.
Mrs. Ouzts was a retired teacher with the Dodge County School System and was a member of First Baptist Church in Douglas.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Travis Ouzts Jr., three brothers and two sisters.
Survivors include two daughters, Kathryn O. Corley (Wayne, Sr) of Fayetteville, GA and Mary Kay Schlenk (Phil) of Lawrenceville, GA; son, Travis James Ouzts III (Dorinda) of Albany, GA; five grandchildren, Anthony Wayne Corley (Eileen) of Fayetteville, GA, Amber Nicole Corley of Cary, NC, Jonathon Travis Ouzts (Jessica) of Leesburg, GA, Cara Hunter (Jonathon) of Putney, GA and Kathryn “Liz” Strickland of Atlanta, GA; six great grandchildren, Addison Hope Corley, Cayson Corley, Henry Hunter, Vala Grace Hunter, Amelia Nell Outzs and Riley Jewell Outzs; several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, June 6, 2020 at 11:00am at Douglas City Cemetery with Rev. Shep Johnson and Dr. Don Hattaway officiating. A private visitation for family and close friends will be held Saturday morning from 10am until 10:45am at Sims Funeral Home.
Musical selections will be “Amazing Grace” and “In the Garden” on CD.
