Hazel Dianne Thompson Griffin, 71

Mrs. Hazel Dianne Thompson Griffin, age 71 of Broxton, passed away Thursday afternoon, June 4, 2020 at Coffee Regional Medical Center following an extended illness. Mrs. Griffin was born March 22, 1949 to the late James A. Thompson and the late Laverne Rentz Thompson.

 

Mrs. Griffin, a native of Atkinson County, had been a pre-school teacher at College Avenue Baptist Church for a number of years. She was also an active member of College Avenue Baptist Church where she played the piano and organ for many years. She also taught Sunday School, Girls Auxiliary and Vacation Bible School.

Survivors include: Her husband, Emory Griffin of Broxton; daughters Joy Dianne Burke and husband Jason of Douglas and April Elizabeth Dills and husband Chris of Douglas; brother Donald Truett, Sr. of Ridgeland, MS; grandchildren Rylee Dianne Burke, Caleb Robert Dills and Conner Dale Dills, all of Douglas; nephew Don Truett, Jr. of Ridgeland, MS; niece Edie Truett of Ridgeland, MS.

The graveside service and interment were Saturday afternoon, June 6, 2020 at 4:00 PM at Douglas City Cemetery with Rev. Mark Mercer officiating.

Active pallbearers were Dr. Larry Hutcheson, Donnie Cauthen, David Roberson, Danny Bradley, Al Wayne Hulsey and Brian Griffin.

Ricketson Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
