Mr. Clyde Eugene “Gene” Maynard, age 82 of Broxton, passed away Friday morning, June 12, 2020 at Coffee Regional Medical Center following a short illness. Mr. Maynard was born November 30, 1937 to the late John H. Maynard and the late Alberta Layne Maynard. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Erick Scott Maynard and a brother, Johnny Paul Maynard.
Mr. Maynard, a native of McAndrews, KY, was a veteran of the US Air Force, having served during the Vietnam War. He was a former police officer with the City of Warner Robins prior to working at Robins Air Force Base as a Federal Police Officer for 30 plus years. Mr. Maynard was an avid motorcyclist. Each year on his birthday, he would make a trip on his motorcycle to Kentucky, West Virginia and North Carolina to visit his family and friends. This trip took place each year until his 80th birthday, at which time his health had begun to decline and he could no longer make the trip.
Survivors include: His wife, Mary Ellen Lairsey Maynard of Broxton, GA; children John Anthony Maynard and wife Janet of Byron, GA, Mark Eugene Maynard of Warner Robins, GA, JoAnna Newcomb and husband David of Warner Robins, GA, Raine Maynard of Broxton, GA, Tony Harrell and wife Sue of Pearson, GA, Sonya LaRocque of Molena, GA, and Kimberly Burrier and husband Jeffrey of Alma, GA; his beloved puppy, Jazzy; 10 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins in Kentucky and West Virginia and many friends.
The graveside service will be Monday afternoon, June 15, 2020 at 4:00 PM at Reedy Branch Cemetery with Rev. Den Weniger officiating and Carl LaRocque presenting a eulogy.
