Ms. Janice Smith Carter, age 75 of Douglas, passed away early Thursday morning, July 2, 2020, at Coffee Regional Medical Center following a short illness. Ms. Smith was born March 10, 1945 to the late T.B. Smith and the late Ethyl Stanley Smith. She was preceded in death by her husband, Orville Carter, who passed away on April 18, 2020.

Ms. Carter, a native of Wilmington, NC, was a retired special education teacher with the Coffee County Board of Education. She was of the Church of God Faith having attended West Ward Church of God.

Survivors include: Children Orville Brent Carter of Douglas, GA and Lorrinda Johnson and husband Stanley of Broxton, GA; grandchildren Keven Johnson and wife Laila of Douglas, GA
Adam Johnson of Douglas, GA, and Cody Rowe of Douglas, GA; great grandchildren Jace Johnson of Blackshear, GA and Samuel Rowe and Lyna Johnson of Douglas, GA; sisters Linda Holton of Jacksonville, FL and Gayle Woods and husband Charlie of Arden, NC; and several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends.

The graveside service and interment will be held, Sunday afternoon, July 5, 2020 at 3:00 PM at Franklin Cemetery with Rev. Leroy Spivey officiating.

Pallbearers for the service will be Keven Johnson, Cody Rowe, Charles Byrd, Adam Johnson, Kyle Byrd and Al Daniel.

Ricketson Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
