Kevin Tatum, County Extension Coordinator

This week’s recipe is called “Corn Chip Bars.” You will need the following ingredients: 1 (14.5) oz. bag of corn chips, slightly crushed, 1 C. sugar, 1 C. light corn syrup, 1 C. creamy peanut butter, and 1 1/2 (11.5 oz) pkgs. chocolate chips. Pour Fritos corn chips into a lightly-greased 10 X 15″ pan and spread evenly. In a medium saucepan at medium heat, bring sugar and light corn syrup to a boil. Remove from heat and stir in peanut butter. Pour the mixture over corn chips and spread evenly. Place chocolate chips over the hot mixture and allow several minutes to melt. Once chocolate has melted, smooth evenly. Let cool before breaking into pieces. Serve and enjoy!

Update

We had all hopes of being able to have a face-to-face awards program in late July or early August, but the odds don’t seem to be in our favor at this time. The 4-H staff is working on putting together a virtual awards program and will get information out to 4-H members when it will be online. 4-H members will have to pick up their awards at the 4-H office when it is safe to do so.

Also, our five State Congress participants are busily preparing for their contest, which also is gone virtual this year. Our five participates include Ashton Ates, Candice Pace, Adrianna Rivero, Alexandra Rivero, and Ishika Sadarangani. Each participate will submit a video of their DPA project and will participate in an online interview. Good luck to all five of these bright students.

Please remember to continue to safe practices of social distancing until it is safe to resume a normal lifestyle and the threat of COVID-19 has passed.

If you would like to learn how you can become more involved with the Coffee County 4-H program, please contact the Coffee County Extension office at (912) 384-1402 or visit our website at http://coffee4h.org.
