Evelyn Merritt Harper, age 82, of Broxton, Georgia, passed away on Thursday, July 23, 2020 at her residence. Mrs. Harper was born on November 9, 1937 in Irwin County, Georgia, the daughter of the late Artis Merritt and Mildred Paulk Merritt.
Mrs. Harper was a homemaker and a member of West Green Church of God. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Farrell Charles Harper; and a brother, Donald Merritt.
Survivors include two sons, Marc Harper (Ben) of Douglas, GA and Rev. Michael Harper (Debbie) of Broxton, GA; three grandchildren, Chase Harper of Douglas, GA, Cody Harper of Broxton, GA and Reed Overstreet of Soperton, GA; eight great grandchildren, Madison Overstreet, McKenzie Overstreet, Laydon Harper, Cason Bell, Lilaa Bell, Lucier Bell, Alayaa Bell and Maverick Harper; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2020 at 2 pm at West Green Church of God with Rev. Michael Harper officiating. Interment will follow at Bethany Holiness Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday from noon until time of service at 2 pm at the church. Pallbearers will be Al Merritt, Rob Merritt, Kevin Merritt, Rusty Merritt, Peanut Merritt and Lamar Martin.
Musical selections will be “Stroll Over Heaven” and “This is What Heaven Means to Me” sung by Michael and Marc Harper with Carolyn Day Thompson on piano.
