Bobby J. Peterson, age 79, of Douglas, Georgia, passed away on Wednesday, July 29, 2020 at Lumber City Nursing Home, Lumber City, Georgia. Mr. Peterson was born on May 26, 1941 in Coffee County, Georgia, the son of the late Carlie Peterson and Carrie Cannon Peterson.

 

Mr. Peterson worked as a plant supervisor for Esco Industries and was a veteran in the United States Army serving during the Vietnam War. He was a Purple Heart recipient.

 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Earl and Omar Peterson.

 

Survivors include his wife, Anne M. Peterson of Douglas, GA; daughter, Dawn Peterson of Douglas, GA; three grandchildren, Ian Brady Boatright, Payton Michele Boatright and Lauren Olivia Boatright, all of Alma, GA; brother, Gene Peterson of Douglas, GA; several nieces and nephews.

 

Graveside services will be held on Friday, July 31, 2020 at 2 pm at Satilla Memorial Gardens with Rev. Mike Peterson officiating.  Military honors will be provided by Fort Stewart Honor Guard. Pallbearers will be CarlPeterson, Joey Webster, Jordan Webster, Henry Adams, Daniel Courson and Mike Peterson. Honorary pallbearers will be the Beaver Kreek crowd, Terrell Davis, Johnny Knight and Ben Vickers.

 

Sims Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

 

Those attending are asked to maintain the recommended safe social distancing of six feet and wear protective masks in accordance with guidelines concerning the coronavirus.
