Maxine Wiggins Stokes, age 86, of Douglas, Georgia, passed away on Friday, July 24, 2020 at Dorminey Medical Center, Fitzgerald, Georgia. Mrs. Stokes was born on June 1, 1934 in Atkinson County, Georgia the daughter of the late Stanford Yeomans and Ruby Jewell Yeomans.
Mrs. Stokes worked in the food industry business with her family and was a member of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Douglas, Georgia.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband and father of her children, John Willie Wiggins; three sons, Gary D. Wiggins, Steven Edward Wiggins and Derek Wiggins; sister, Madelyn Waldron Joyner; and a step-father, Alfred Waldron.
Survivors include her husband, Dennis F. Stokes of Douglas, GA; son, Jimmy Wiggins (Terri) of Douglas, GA; nine grandchildren, Michael Wiggins, Steve Wiggins (Renee), Bryan Wiggins (Jenny), Kristin W. Adams (Drew), Megan Adkinson (Clint), Heather Wiggins, Darren Wiggins (Lacey), Brady Wiggins and Chad Day (Ashley); sister, Myrna Jewell (Merrill) of Douglas, GA; twenty three great grandchildren; four brothers, Gene Waldron (Naomi), Bill Waldron (Wanda) , Jerry Waldron (Toya) and Sonny Waldron all of Douglas, GA; daughter-in-law, Betty Wiggins of Douglas, GA; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 27, 2020 at 2:00pm at Sims Funeral Home Chapel with Bishop Michael Jackson (conducting), Jerry Waldron (message), Steve Sirmans (dedicate the grave), Kristin Adams (eulogy), Ashley Woods (prayer) and Joey Chancey (prayer). Interment will follow at Satilla Memorial Gardens.

Those attending are asked to maintain the recommended safe distancing of six feet and wear protective masks in accordance with the guidelines concerning the coronavirus.
