Maxine Starling Oliver, 85

Maxine Starling Oliver, age 85, of Hazlehurst, Georgia, passed away on Thursday, July 30, 2020 in Hazlehurst, Georgia. Mrs. Oliver was born on May 14, 1935 in Coffee County, Georgia, the daughter of the late William Amos Starling and Laura Bell Sears Starling.

 

Mrs. Oliver worked as an inspector for 33 years with Diebel Manufacturing, Chicago and was a member of Harrell Grove Baptist Church. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Oliver; son, Larry Morris; four sisters, Nancy Irwin, Marie Burkett, Frances Tyner and Magaleen Lairsey; and two brothers, J.W. Starling and George Starling.

 

Survivors include three daughters, Wanda Dale of Hazlehurst, GA, Peggy Briscoe of Northport, AL and Donna Porter of Northport, AL; son, Garry Upton (Wendy) of Tyler Town, MS; two sisters, Doris Cothern of Jacksonville, FL and Lora Jean Smith of Ft. McCoy, FL; brother, Talmadge Starling of St. George, GA; seven grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

 

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2020 at 11:00am at Harrell Grove Church Cemetery.

 

Sims Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

 

Those attending are asked to maintain the recommended safe social distancing of six feet and wear protective masks in accordance with the guidelines concerning the coronavirus.
