Lady Trojans win in 10 to remain undefeated

The Coffee Lady Trojans remained undefeated with another thriller in front of the home crowd at Faircloth Field on Thursday 1-0 in 10 innings.

The Brantley County Lady Herons came to town in what turned into a classic pitcher’s duel with two senior pitchers squaring off.  The 2019 1-AAAAAA All-Region pitcher Reagan Thomas scattered three hits through 8 1/3 and struck out 14 Brantley batters to keep Coffee in the game most of the night.

Another All-Region performer from 2019, Madison Strickland, relieved Thomas and recorded the final five outs for the win.  Strickland led Coffee’s offense with a pair of hits and was robbed of a third hit on a line drive to left by the Lady Heron third baseman.  Jenna Graham, Emily Elisis, and Emily Robinson all chipped in a hit for Coffee.

Just like the previous two games, the Lady Trojans manufactured a 10th inning run after freshman Hanna Hutchison sacrificed pinch-runner Morgan Adams to the third allowing senior Alden Smith to squeeze home the game winner in front of a packed house.  “These girls just figure out a way to get it done every night.  They never feel like they’re out of the game no matter what is going on. Pitching and defense are definitely our strength right now until our bats come around, with game reps it’s a matter of time,” state head coach Stan Hughes.
