Billy Gene Sweat, age 70, of Douglas, Georgia passed away on Tuesday August 25, 2020 at his residence. Mr. Sweat was born on September 10, 1949 in Coffee County, Georgia the son of the late Leo Sweat and Waunell Mancil Sweat.

Mr. Sweat retired from Windstream Communications as an installer/repairman, was a member of Fales Pentecostal Church and was a veteran of the United States Army.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Billy Ray Sweat and a brother, Carl Sweat.

 

Survivors include his wife, Doris H. Sweat of Douglas, GA; five daughters, Pamela Morgan (Timmy) of Douglas, GA, Wendy Lynn Graham (Steven) of Douglas, GA, Rose West (Ken) of Millwood, GA, Peggy Sweat of Douglas, GA and Sarah Malinda Sweat of Douglas, GA; four brothers, Joe Sweat (Linda) of Nicholls, GA, John Sweat (Brenda) of Douglas, GA, James Sweat (Ann) of Nicholls, GA and Jimmy Sweat (Sherri) of Douglas, GA; sister, Lois McMillan (Ricky) of Douglas, GA; nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

 

Graveside services will be held on Saturday, August 29, 2020 at 11:00am at Arna Church Cemetery with Rev. Leroy Spivey and Rev. Heath Wingard officiating. The family will receive friends Friday evening August 28, 2020 from 6pm until 9pm at Sims Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Adam Spivey, Zachary Batten, Ethan Batten, Robby West, Kevin Spivey and Kyle Spivey.

 

Sims Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
