Mr. Kenneth Carroll Strickland, age 70 of Douglas, passed away Wednesday afternoon, September 16, 2020 at Hospice Satilla Hospice House in Waycross, following an extended illness. Mr. Strickland was born March 24, 1950 to the late Asa Strickland and the late Leone Williams Strickland. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers Asa Strickland, Donald Strickland and Lester Strickland; sisters Dovie Strickland and Joyce Price; and grandson Garrett McVeigh.

Kenny, a native of Arcadia, FL, loved singing, playing music, riding horses, working cows, hunting and camping. He was an electrician and a cowboy. He had worked on the Olin Wooten Bar W Ranch for a number of years. Kenny was a member of Salem Holiness Baptist Church.

Survivors include:

Wife: Linda Corbitt Strickland of Douglas, GA

Children: Roy Strickland of Lakeland, GA
Dovie Hart and husband Ed of Baxley, GA
Lovie McVeigh of Yulee, FL

Step-children: Rick McCoy and Jason McCoy

Sisters: Josephine Cannon of Pensacola, FL
Norine Gilstrap and Arena Thompson both of Inverness, FL

Grandchildren: Tyler Reese, Christopher Reese, Hunter Reese, Colt Strickland, Caleb Strickland, Kaige McVeigh and Kayla McVeigh

 

Step-grandchildren: Charity McCoy, Rylee McCoy and Paris McCoy

Great-grandchildren: Kaiden McVeigh, Bella Grace, Huntley Reese and Gianna Callejas

Several nieces, nephews, cousins and many friends

The funeral service will be Saturday morning, September 19, 2020 at 11:00 A.M. at Salem Holiness Baptist Church with Rev. Buddy Phillips, Rev. Philip Smith and Rev. Marlon Smith officiating. The interment will follow in Salem Cemetery with Rev. Joey Copeland officiating at the grave side.

The family will receive friends on Saturday morning, September 19, 2020 from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. at Salem Holiness Baptist Church.

Active pallbearers for the service will be: Hunter Reese, Colt Strickland, Caleb Strickland, Richard Corbitt, Richard Butler and J. W. Drake.

Honorary pallbearers will be: Max Price, John Matthews, Larry Stone, Michael Railey and Cathy, Glen Nettles, Marty Moore, Jimmy Weeks, Don Alexander, J. R., Jody Calejas and Don Gillis.

Ricketson Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
